The good hunters are getting their day. Sony Pictures announced at CinemaCon that a Bloodborne animated movie is currently in development, produced alongside PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation, according to Push Square.
For a fanbase that has spent years clamoring for a PS5 remaster, a sequel, or basically any sign of life from the IP, this is a notable move from Sony - even if it's not the platform-exclusive return many were hoping for. Bloodborne's gothic, Lovecraftian world arguably lends itself well to animation, given how densely atmospheric and lore-rich the source material is.

A YouTube presence attached to the project
Push Square also notes that a prominent YouTube personality is involved in the production, though the specifics of their role weren't detailed in the original announcement. The gaming content creator community has long had a passionate relationship with Bloodborne, so the involvement of a recognizable online figure isn't entirely surprising.

Lyrical Animation is the studio handling the animated side of the project. PlayStation Productions has been steadily building out its portfolio of game-to-screen adaptations, with The Last of Us HBO series being its most high-profile success to date. A Bloodborne animated project fits neatly into that broader push to extend PlayStation's biggest IPs beyond gaming.

What this means for the franchise
Bloodborne remains one of Sony's most beloved first-party titles despite launching back in 2015 exclusively on PS4. The lack of a PS5 upgrade or any follow-up content has been a long-running sore point for fans. An animated film doesn't resolve those platform concerns, but it does signal that Sony sees value in keeping the brand alive and in front of audiences.
No release window, cast details, or further plot information have been confirmed at this stage. Considering this is an early announcement out of CinemaCon, expect more details to surface as production progresses. For now, the good hunters wait - as always.
