Ecco the Dolphin is officially back. A&R Atelier has announced Ecco the Dolphin: Complete, a bundle that includes every version of the first two classic Ecco titles alongside a brand new game in the series, according to Nintendo Life.
Details are still light - no platforms or release date have been confirmed yet. However, this announcement has been a long time coming. Series creator Ed Annunziata teased the project nearly a year ago, and the topic came up again earlier this year when he spoke with Famitsu.
Why this matters
Ecco the Dolphin holds a unique place in gaming history. The Sega Genesis originals from the early 90s were genuinely unlike anything else on the market - atmospheric, challenging, and narratively bizarre in the best possible way. A full remaster collection paired with an entirely new entry is the kind of revival fans have been quietly hoping for across multiple console generations.

The inclusion of every version of the first two games suggests A&R Atelier is treating this as a definitive preservation effort, not just a quick cash-grab port. That commitment, combined with the prospect of a new title, gives this announcement real weight for fans of the series.
What we're watching for
The big outstanding questions are platform targets and whether the new game is a full sequel or something smaller in scope. Given that Annunziata has been personally driving this revival, there's reason to be optimistic about the creative direction. We'll be keeping a close eye on further reveals as A&R Atelier shares more details.
This one is definitely worth putting on your radar, especially if you have any nostalgia for one of the Sega Genesis era's most distinct and underappreciated franchises.
