Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction has been delayed just two weeks out from its scheduled release, publisher Limited Run Games has announced. The Switch title - developed by Bitmap Bureau - will now arrive sometime in the summer, according to Nintendo Life.

The timing stings a little. Dragon Pearl of Destruction had built up serious anticipation as one of the more exciting Switch releases on the calendar this year, pairing the He-Man IP with a side-scrolling beat 'em up format that feels like an obvious match made in gaming heaven.

Bitmap Bureau isn't an unknown quantity here either. The studio previously delivered Terminator 2D: NO FATE, which showed they know how to handle licensed '80s properties with genuine care and mechanical chops. That track record is a big reason why Dragon Pearl of Destruction had so many eyes on it ahead of launch.

No specific reason for the delay has been given, and a precise summer release window hasn't been confirmed beyond the seasonal label. Limited Run Games handling publishing duties also means this one will likely get the physical release treatment the label is known for.

A short delay this close to launch is rarely a red flag - more often than not it points to last-minute polish rather than deeper development trouble. For a passion project like this, a few extra weeks could absolutely be worth it. We'll be watching closely for any updated release date announcement.
