Hold onto your nail, bug fans - according to Nintendo Life, Team Cherry has teamed up with Fangamer to announce not one but TWO physical editions dropping on Nintendo Switch 2. We're talking a physical release for both the original Hollow Knight AND the mythical, legendary, practically cryptid-tier Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Pre-orders are apparently live right now, which means Silksong is real enough to have a barcode slapped on it - and honestly that's more confirmed than it's been for most of the last decade. The Switch 2 editions mark a significant moment for a game that has spent years living rent-free in players' heads as gaming's most famous "any day now" release.

Why this is actually a big deal
Physical releases are no small thing in 2026 - they require a finished (or nearly finished) product, manufacturing deals, and actual logistics. Nobody prints cartridges for a game that doesn't exist. This is about as close to a Silksong release confirmation as fans have gotten without Team Cherry directly saying the words out loud.

The "also plays on Nintendo Switch" energy around the original game's edition is a nice touch too - because of course veterans are going to double-dip. You think anyone who has 60 hours logged in Hallownest is NOT buying a physical copy the moment it becomes available? Please.

What we know so far
- Both Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong are getting Switch 2 physical editions
- The releases are being handled in partnership with Fangamer
- Pre-orders are live now
- Your wallet is already in danger
Team Cherry has been notoriously tight-lipped about Silksong's development timeline, making every scrap of new information feel like discovering a hidden passage in a FromSoftware dungeon. A physical release deal isn't just a product announcement - it's a checkpoint. And checkpoints mean the end boss isn't too far away... probably.
Get those pre-orders in before the internet collectively loses its mind. Again.
