PQube has officially announced Kitaria Fables 2 during the Galaxies Spring Showcase, confirming the sequel to the 2021 original action RPG. The game is being developed by Secret Level Studios and Twin Hearts, and is targeting PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The reveal comes on the back of solid momentum for the franchise - according to Noisy Pixel, the original Kitaria Fables moved 400,000 copies globally, a respectable milestone for an indie action RPG that blended farming sim mechanics with combat. That hybrid formula is clearly returning for the sequel, and it looks like the team is doubling down on the things that made the first entry click with players.
What's new in the sequel
Kitaria Fables 2 is bringing co-op into the mix, which is a notable addition for a series that previously kept things solo. Farming mechanics are back as well, sitting alongside what appears to be a more expansive open world structure - a meaningful step up in scope from the original game's more contained design.
The announcement came alongside a new trailer, giving players their first real look at the sequel's visual direction and gameplay loop. The artstyle maintains the charming anthropomorphic aesthetic of the original, with the colorful world and animal-character designs that helped the first game stand out visually.
A growing platform list worth noting
The inclusion of Nintendo Switch 2 as a target platform is worth flagging. It signals that publishers are increasingly treating the new Nintendo hardware as a day-one destination rather than an afterthought, which bodes well for the platform's growing third-party lineup.
There's no release window confirmed yet, but with a full reveal trailer already out and multiple platforms announced, Kitaria Fables 2 appears to be further along in development than a typical early teaser would suggest. Fans of the original - and anyone who missed it but likes the sound of an action RPG with farming and co-op - have a good reason to keep this one on their radar.
