Put down your modern open-world loot shooters for a second, because two of the most brain-melting puzzle games in history are officially joining the PS5 roster. Cyan Worlds has confirmed that their remakes of Myst and Riven are heading to PlayStation 5, complete with full PSVR2 support - because apparently getting stuck on an island puzzle isn't disorienting enough without being fully immersed in it.

According to Push Square, both titles drop on May 19th, 2026, and you can already wishlist them on the PS Store right now. So if you've ever wanted to explain to your friends why you're sitting in a headset, absolutely motionless, staring at a mysterious lever for 45 minutes, your moment is almost here.

Why this is a bigger deal than your damage numbers suggest

For the younger players in the room who weren't alive in the '90s (we don't want to hear it), Myst and Riven were essentially the Dark Souls of their era - brutally obtuse, hauntingly atmospheric, and wildly influential. These weren't games you speedran. These were games you surrendered to.

Cyan Worlds has already released these remakes on PC, so PS5 players are finally getting their turn at the save point. The PSVR2 support is the real XP bonus here though - the idea of exploring the surreal, pre-rendered worlds of Myst and Riven in full virtual reality sounds equal parts magical and genuinely unsettling, and we are completely here for it.

Go wishlist these before you forget

Both games are available to wishlist on PS Store right now, which is great, because we all know how quickly these things sneak up on you and then suddenly you're paying full price on launch day like a rookie. Whether you're a returning veteran who remembers the original CD-ROM versions or a total newcomer ready to get absolutely cooked by some of gaming's most cryptic puzzles, this is your loading screen moment.

May 19th, 2026. Mark it on your map - if you can figure out how to read it.
