Overwatch's Switch 2 debut has hit a rough patch right out of the gate. According to Eurogamer, the newly released port is missing the 60fps performance mode that was advertised ahead of launch, leaving players on a performance level below what was promised.
The timing is particularly awkward. The port arrived alongside Season 2 and the introduction of new DPS hero Sierra, moments that should be generating positive buzz. Instead, the conversation has shifted toward a fairly fundamental technical shortcoming for a competitive shooter where frame rate matters.

A frustrating launch window
For a game like Overwatch, smooth frame rates aren't just a nice-to-have - they're core to the experience. Competitive shooters live and die by responsiveness, and players who picked up the Switch 2 version specifically for its promised 60fps performance are currently getting something meaningfully different from what was marketed.

Blizzard has acknowledged the issue and says a fix is incoming, which at least signals the studio is aware and moving quickly. But the port has already shipped in this state, meaning early adopters are dealing with a product that doesn't match its advertised spec on day one.

Overwatch's broader relaunch has been going well
The port hiccup is a stumble in what has otherwise been a reasonably strong run for the franchise lately. Blizzard recently dropped the "2" branding entirely and has been leaning back into the looser, more casual energy of the original game - a shift that has been well received by the community. Season 2 and the Sierra addition look like solid content drops on other platforms.
Switch 2 players will want to keep an eye on patch notes for the incoming 60fps fix. Until that update lands, those who jumped in early are essentially running a version of the game that underperforms relative to what was advertised - not a great look for a port trying to establish the platform as a legitimate home for competitive multiplayer.
