Sony's Days of Play sale has been doing heavy lifting for the PSVR 2, slashing the price enough to get fence-sitters off their couches and onto their credit cards. Retailers are starting to show out-of-stock warnings, which is not a sentence anyone expected to type about a headset that spent most of its life gathering dust on store shelves.

Meanwhile, Meta hasn't exactly been playing defense. The Quest 3S - previously the go-to recommendation for anyone wanting a relatively painless entry into VR - has seen its price climb, eroding the budget advantage that made it such a safe recommend in the first place.
