Move over, Jónas Antonsson - there's a new raid leader in town. According to GamesIndustry.biz, Pim Holfve, who took over as CEO of indie publisher Raw Fury back in November 2024, has now been handed a second controller - he's also been appointed CEO of Raw Fury's parent company, Combined Effect. That's a double-CEO speedrun, folks.
So what does a guy do when he's sitting on top of two companies? He starts eyeing more, naturally. Holfve made it clear in the interview that Combined Effect is actively looking to grow its portfolio through acquisitions - but he's not just smashing the buy button on anything that crosses his feed.

No copy-paste acquisitions allowed
Holfve specifically stated he wants to bring in companies that add something genuinely new to the group, rather than stacking up clones of what's already in the roster. Think of it like drafting a party - you don't need four wizards, you need one wizard, a rogue, a tank, and someone who actually knows how to cook.

This kind of strategic thinking is refreshing in an industry that's been blowing its savings on mega-mergers and then immediately rage-quitting by laying off half the studio. Holfve's approach sounds more like a careful crafting system than an impulse-buy loot box situation.

Raw Fury's legacy is the foundation
Raw Fury has built a solid reputation as a publisher that actually respects developers - a stat that's rarer than a shiny legendary drop in this business. With Holfve now running both the publisher and the parent group, the hope is that ethos scales upward rather than getting nerfed by corporate overhead.
Whether this expansion arc ends in a triumphant final boss moment or a disappointing DLC nobody asked for remains to be seen. But at least the new CEO sounds like he's read the wiki before starting the playthrough. The indie gaming world is watching, controller in hand.
