Replaced has landed to strong reviews as one of the more exciting Xbox Game Pass additions in recent memory, but Series S players should hold off on marathon sessions until a patch drops. Sad Cat Studios has flagged a memory-related hang that can occur during the transition between Chapter 4 and Chapter 5, and it can wipe your progress if it hits.
According to the developer, speaking to IGN, the bug is specifically tied to extended single-sitting playthroughs on Xbox Series S hardware. If you've been running the game continuously up to that chapter transition, you're at risk of triggering the hang.
The good news is that a fix is already in the pipeline. Sad Cat Studios says the patch is planned for this week, so the window of exposure should be relatively short for anyone who can hold out. That said, if you're itching to jump in right now, saving frequently and breaking your session into chunks before hitting Chapter 4 seems like the safest approach.

It's worth noting this appears to be a Series S-specific issue, so Xbox Series X and PC players on Game Pass should be in the clear. The Series S has historically been a trickier target for developers given its reduced RAM compared to the Series X, and memory management issues on that platform are not unheard of at launch.
Replaced has been a long time coming - the cyberpunk pixel-art action game was first revealed back in 2021 and immediately turned heads with its striking visual style. The strong critical reception makes the timing of this bug particularly frustrating for Series S owners who've been waiting years to play it. Patching quickly is the right call, and at least Sad Cat Studios is being upfront about the problem rather than letting players discover it the hard way.
Keep an eye on official channels from Sad Cat Studios for confirmation when the fix goes live.
