CyberConnect2's arena fighter is getting a familiar face from the latest arc. Shinobu Kocho is coming to Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 as a paid DLC character on April 16, according to Noisy Pixel, with her design pulling directly from the Infinity Castle storyline.

A new trailer has dropped alongside the announcement, giving fans their first look at how the Insect Hashira will play in-game. Shinobu's combat style in the source material leans heavily on her unique poison-based techniques - a sharp contrast to the raw power most Hashira bring to a fight - which should make her a distinctive addition to the roster if the team has translated that identity faithfully into her moveset.

Platform availability

The base game is already out across a wide range of platforms - PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The DLC's multi-platform rollout means players across all supported hardware should be able to grab Shinobu on the same day.

Why this matters

The Infinity Castle arc has been a massive cultural moment for the Demon Slayer franchise, and tying DLC characters directly to that storyline is a smart way to keep the game feeling relevant while the story is at peak visibility. Shinobu in particular has a passionate fanbase, so her addition as paid content was probably one of the more anticipated roster reveals the devs could have made.

For competitive players, she could open up new combo routes and spacing tools given her poison-centric style. Whether she ends up as a meta pick or a fan-service addition will depend on how aggressively CyberConnect2 balanced her kit - something the trailer should start to hint at.

If you're on the fence about the DLC, the trailer is live now and worth a watch before April 16.
