The wait is almost over, fog-walkers. Konami, Annapurna Interactive, and developer Screen Burn Interactive have officially confirmed that Silent Hill: Townfall is dropping on September 24th, according to Niche Gamer. PC players can grab it via Steam or the Epic Games Store, while PS5 owners get to suffer alongside them.

For the uninitiated, Townfall has been lurking in the shadows since its initial announcement, teasing fans with just enough cryptic imagery to keep the hype meter maxed out. The game follows a character named Simon Ordell who gets called back - presumably to somewhere deeply unpleasant, because this is Silent Hill and nobody ever gets called back to somewhere nice.

This is one of several Silent Hill projects Konami has had in the pipeline, and Townfall stands out as the Annapurna Interactive co-produced entry - which means expect something that hits different narratively, because Annapurna doesn't exactly do "chill vibes." A new trailer has also dropped alongside the announcement, so if you enjoy being psychologically unsettled on a Tuesday, congratulations on your new hobby.

September 24th can't come soon enough for survival horror fans who've been starving for a proper new entry in the franchise. Whether Townfall will recapture that old-school Silent Hill dread or chart its own terrifying course remains to be seen - but with Screen Burn Interactive at the helm and Annapurna backing it, the odds are looking less like a game over screen and more like a potential final boss moment for the genre.

Mark your calendars, stock up on fog machines, and maybe leave the lights on. You've been warned.
