Hot off the heels of Bloodlines 2, the Vampire: The Masquerade universe is getting another entry in 2025 - this time in visual novel form. According to Game Informer, the game is titled Vampire: The Masquerade - Oaths and Ashes and is headed to PC via Steam later this year.
The game is set in contemporary Berlin and plays by the rules of the tabletop RPG's 5th Edition, which should be a draw for fans of the pen-and-paper system who want to see those mechanics translated into a narrative format. Visual novels are a solid fit for the World of Darkness setting - heavy on lore, politics, and morally murky choices.
Players will step into the shoes of two protagonists. One is Alice, a Ventrue operative working on behalf of the Camarilla, the powerful vampire faction that has dominated the setting's power structure for centuries. The dual-protagonist structure suggests the game will offer at least two distinct perspectives on the story's central conflict, a format that works well for a universe built on competing factions and hidden agendas.

Berlin is a smart backdrop for this kind of story. The city carries real historical weight and has long been a compelling setting for fiction dealing with divided loyalties, underground societies, and shifting power dynamics - all themes that fit the Masquerade universe like a glove.
With Bloodlines 2 finally out the door after its notoriously troubled development, it's good to see the license being put to use in other ways. A visual novel is a lower-stakes project that can focus purely on storytelling without the baggage of a full RPG production, and for lore-hungry fans, that might be exactly what the doctor ordered.
No specific release date has been given beyond a 2025 window. More details are expected as the year progresses.
