Put away your preemptive rage-quitting, Avatar fans - the delay isn't that bad. Publisher PM Studios and developer Gameplay Group have announced that Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is pushing its release from July 2nd to July 23rd, according to Niche Gamer. That's barely enough time to finish a side quest, let alone throw a controller.

The game will still be dropping on Windows PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 - so at least the platform roster didn't get nerfed in the patch notes. Three extra weeks of polish on a fighting game is honestly a buff, not a nerf, when you think about it.

Why the delay actually slaps

Fighting games live and die by their launch state. A buggy hitbox on day one can haunt a title for its entire competitive lifespan, turning players into salt merchants faster than you can say "nerf firebenders." If Gameplay Group needs 21 more days to tighten up the mechanics, we'll take the L on the wait time and cash in the W on a cleaner release.

The Avatar IP has had a rough run in the gaming space historically, so there's real pressure on this one to deliver. A platform fighter set in the world of Aang and Korra with actual production backing is the kind of thing the fanbase has been grinding for since the early 2000s. No pressure, Gameplay Group. Okay, a little pressure.

Mark your calendars, nomads

July 23rd is now the date to circle in your scroll of destiny. Whether you're planning to main Aang for the air combo potential or you're already theory-crafting Zuko's punish windows, the wait is (mercifully) short. Three weeks in gamer time is basically a loading screen anyway.

Keep your eyes on official channels for any additional announcements, and maybe use this extra time to rewatch the show and settle the eternal debate: Aang or Korra? (Wrong answers only, please.)
