Twin Hearts is returning to its cozy-yet-action-packed universe with Kitaria Fables 2, a sequel to the beloved original action RPG. The developer has partnered with Secret Level Studio to bring the game to PC and consoles, with Switch 2 confirmed as one of the target platforms.
The announcement dropped during the Galaxies Spring Showcase, giving fans their first look at what appears to be an expanded take on the charming anthropomorphic world of the first game. Nintendo Life, who covered the reveal, noted they were fans of the original - which checks out, given how well the first Kitaria Fables blended light farming and crafting mechanics with snappy real-time combat.

What we know so far
Details are still thin on the ground. No release date has been confirmed yet, so this is firmly in the "put it on your radar" camp for now. What is clear is that the sequel aims to build on the foundation of the original rather than reinvent it, which should be welcome news for anyone who sunk hours into the first game.

The involvement of Secret Level Studio as a co-developer is worth keeping an eye on as more information surfaces. Co-development partnerships can bring extra polish and resources to smaller indie projects, and given how solid the original already was, that's a promising sign for the sequel's ambitions.

Why it matters
Kitaria Fables carved out a niche by combining accessible action combat with a genuinely endearing cast and world. It wasn't trying to be Elden Ring - it was comfortable being a warm, well-crafted adventure that didn't overstay its welcome. A sequel launching on Switch 2 puts it right in the sweet spot for Nintendo's new hardware, where cozy-but-deep action RPGs have historically found enthusiastic audiences.
With no release window announced, there's plenty of time for Twin Hearts to flesh out what's new before expectations firm up. For now, fans of the original have good reason to be quietly excited.
