Hideo Kojima, the man who once put a fake developer name on a game to troll an entire industry, is back at his favorite hobby: teasing us with just enough information to lose sleep over. According to Pure Xbox, Kojima has taken to social media to hint that filming has kicked back into gear for OD, his upcoming Xbox first-party exclusive.
If you have been living under a rock - or just touching grass, which we respect - OD was first announced back in 2022, with a teaser trailer dropping in 2023. That is roughly three years of Kojima posting mysterious photos and all of us pretending we understand what any of it means. Classic Kojima speedrun, honestly.
The project has been one of the most enigmatic titles in Xbox's pipeline, which is saying something given how much Microsoft has been juggling lately. OD is being developed in collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Peele, so the "filming" part of this tease is not just artsy metaphor - there are actual real-life humans being pointed at by cameras for whatever eldritch horror these two are cooking up.

What do we actually know about OD gameplay-wise? Laughably little. Kojima has been treating information drops like they are legendary loot in a battle royale - extremely rare, and never quite what you were hoping for. The game appears to be some kind of psychological horror experience, which checks out given the Peele connection.
For Xbox fans still waiting on their next big exclusive moment, OD remains one of the platform's most intriguing question marks. Kojima's social media tease that filming has "recommenced" at least suggests the project is alive, moving, and presumably still deeply weird in all the right ways.
No release window has been announced. We will be checking Kojima's Instagram obsessively in the meantime, reading every blurry photo like it is a prophecy. As one does.
