Forget side quests - Warhorse Studios just dropped a main story update that has RPG fans absolutely losing their minds. According to PC Games N, the developer behind the gloriously muddy Kingdom Come: Deliverance series has officially confirmed it is working on a Lord of the Rings RPG alongside a brand new Kingdom Come game. Two announcements. One studio. Zero chill.
The fellowship of the dev team
A Lord of the Rings RPG from Warhorse is, when you think about it, almost suspiciously perfect casting. These are the people who made medieval combat feel like an actual sweaty, exhausting, panic-inducing experience - now imagine that same energy applied to the Shire, Rohan, or the slopes of Mount Doom. Henry of Skalitz picking up a sword against an orc? Do not tell us you are not already pressing A to continue on that one.

Tolkien's universe has had a complicated gaming history - bless you, Shadow of Mordor, for your Nemesis system - but a grounded, story-driven RPG treatment from a studio that clearly does its historical homework? That is a different kind of quest log entry entirely.

And yes, more Kingdom Come is also happening
Before you panic that Warhorse is abandoning their beloved Czech medieval simulator, breathe - a new Kingdom Come game is also confirmed to be in development. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was already a massive critical and commercial win for the studio, so a follow-up was basically written in the stars (or, you know, in the game's very long loading screen tips).

Whether these two projects are running in parallel or one follows the other remains to be seen, but either way Warhorse has clearly levelled up their ambitions in a serious way. Going from scrappy underdog studio to holding a Lord of the Rings licence is not exactly a small loot drop - that is legendary tier, and they earned it.
The hype bar is already dangerously high
Let us be real: the words "Warhorse" and "Lord of the Rings RPG" appearing in the same sentence is the kind of news that makes people forget about whatever live service game was annoying them five minutes ago. We do not have release windows, we do not have trailers, and we do not have much beyond the confirmation itself - but sometimes that is all it takes to put a game permanently on the radar.
Keep your eyes on this one. It might just be one of the most interesting RPG announcements in years.
