Strap in, because the multiverse of gaming absurdity just leveled up. According to Eurogamer, Epic Games is allegedly planning to drop an Arc Raiders-style extraction shooter featuring Disney characters before the end of the year. Yes, that Disney. The one with the mouse.
For the uninitiated, extraction shooters are the genre where you drop into a dangerous zone, loot everything that isn't nailed down, and then desperately try to escape before someone eliminates you and steals your hard-earned gear. It's already a sweaty, nerve-wracking experience - now imagine doing it while Goofy watches.

Why does this make total sense, actually
Let's be real - Epic has already proven that throwing beloved IP into unexpected gameplay blenders is basically their main XP farming strategy. Fortnite has hosted everyone from Spider-Man to Ariana Grande, so a full game built around Disney characters in a hardcore extraction format is... bold, but not exactly out of left field for them.

The Arc Raiders comparison is interesting too, given that game's recent buzz as a fresh face in the extraction shooter scene. If Epic is looking to compete in that space while slapping a Disney skin on it, they're essentially trying to speedrun market dominance by combining genre hype with one of the most powerful IP libraries on the planet.

The loot pool practically writes itself
Think about it - contested zones inside the Death Star, extracting Infinity Stones before Thanos simps wipe your squad, or clutching a high-value Lightsaber drop while someone pushes you at the extraction point. The potential is genuinely ridiculous in the best possible way.
Of course, all of this remains in alleged territory for now. Epic hasn't officially confirmed anything, and the year is moving fast - so if this is real, they'd need to get moving quicker than Sonic on a straight road. We'll be watching the announcements closely, and frankly, so should you.
Whether this ends up being a certified banger or a legendary failed quest, one thing is certain: nobody expected "Disney extraction shooter" to be on the 2025 bingo card. And yet, here we are.
