Nintendo has activated a new side quest for your wallet. On May 12, the Big N announced the Nintendo Switch 2 Choose Your Game Bundle, a $500 package that bundles the console with a digital game code - and yes, you actually get to pick which game you want, which is a refreshing change of pace from corporations deciding what shovelware you deserve.
According to GameSpot, the bundle is set to launch on June 5, 2025, and preorders are already live at Best Buy, GameStop, and Nintendo's own store. The three playable choices in this real-life character select screen are Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Pokemon Prokopia - basically Nintendo's holy trinity of "we know you're going to buy this anyway."
So what's the actual deal?
The bundle comes with one digital download code redeemable for your chosen title. Bought separately, the console and game would cost more, so there is genuine value here - Nintendo isn't just slapping a bow on a regular box and calling it a bundle (we see you, other publishers).
The real pressure, of course, is picking the right game. Mario Kart World is the safe, chaotic, friendship-destroying choice. Donkey Kong Bananza sounds like it was named by someone who just discovered adjectives. And Pokemon Prokopia - still a mystery to many - might be the sleeper hit that makes you look like a genius at future dinner parties.
Should you preorder?
If you were already planning to grab a Switch 2 and one of these three titles, this bundle is basically free money - or at least free savings, which is the gamer's version of free money. Preorders are live now, so if you're the type who rage-quits when stock runs out, now's your moment to lock in before the inventory bar hits zero.
Just maybe don't spend too long agonizing over which game to pick. This isn't Elden Ring - there's no wrong build here. Probably.
