Part Time Monkey's tactical card battler Warena is opening its doors for a public Steam playtest from May 1st to 3rd, and interest is already running hot: more than 1,000 players have signed up before the test even begins.
Warena is a 1v1 card battler that throws turn-based play out the window. Both players act simultaneously in real time — drop a card, and a unit hits the battlefield while your opponent is doing the exact same thing to you.
Two Ways to Play
The playtest includes both 1v1 ranked PvP and a single-player campaign that teaches the systems and sharpens your skills against increasingly brutal AI before you head online. The developer is leaning hard into competitive integrity: no pay-to-win, no RNG card packs, no hidden math. Every card is earnable through play, and the better strategist wins.
Jump Into the Playtest
The playtest runs on Steam from May 1st to 3rd. The dev team is active on Discord and welcomes player feedback throughout development — worth joining if you want a voice in where the game is headed.
If real-time tactical card play sounds like the thing turn-based games have never quite managed to deliver, this is the weekend to block out.
