Capcom has pushed out a new patch for Pragmata that adds official support for PSSR2 on PS5 Pro, according to reporting from Push Square. The update is live now, and the publisher shared a demonstration of the upgraded upscaling in action on social media.

There was a bit of confusion leading into this release. A technical analysis from Digital Foundry had suggested the game was already leveraging the enhanced feature prior to this patch, but Capcom clarified that today's update specifically "adds official support for the upgraded PSSR." So while the implementation may have looked similar before, this is the properly-baked, supported version of the tech.

What PSSR2 means for the game

PSSR2 is Sony's second-generation AI-driven upscaling solution for PS5 Pro, building on the original PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution tech that launched alongside the hardware. Like its predecessor, it's designed to reconstruct image quality from lower internal render resolutions, targeting sharper visuals and improved temporal stability compared to traditional upscalers.

For a game like Pragmata - Capcom's sci-fi action title set on a future Earth - the benefits of better upscaling are fairly tangible. More detailed character renders and cleaner environmental geometry are the kind of gains players can actually notice in motion, especially in a game that leans heavily on its visual presentation.

Growing PS5 Pro support

This patch is another example of developers going back to add or refine PS5 Pro features post-launch, rather than shipping everything day one. It's a pattern that's become fairly common since the hardware released, with studios updating existing titles to take better advantage of the Pro's enhanced GPU and dedicated machine learning hardware.

If you're playing Pragmata on PS5 Pro, the patch is available now. Given the Digital Foundry analysis was already reasonably positive about the game's image quality on the platform, official PSSR2 support should push things a step further for anyone chasing the best possible visual experience.
