Housemarque has built a reputation for making some of the most purely game-feel-focused titles in the AAA space, and according to a new review from Push Square, Saros might be the studio's finest work to date. Reviewer Rahul gives the PS5 exclusive the nod as Housemarque at the absolute peak of its powers.
The Finnish developer - best known for Returnal - has always leaned into what makes games feel great to actually play, rather than chasing cinematic trends. Push Square's review highlights that same design philosophy is alive and well in Saros, carrying forward Housemarque's commitment to tight, satisfying gameplay loops over safe, formulaic design.

With Returnal, Housemarque stepped up to its biggest project ever, backed heavily by Sony, with a stronger narrative thread woven through its roguelite structure. Yet even that game ultimately succeeded because it felt incredible to play moment-to-moment. Based on Push Square's assessment, Saros takes that foundation and pushes it even further.

Housemarque has always stood out in a crowded big-budget landscape precisely because it refuses to play it safe. While many AAA studios produce titles that blur together, the studio consistently delivers experiences that feel distinct - mechanically sharp and deeply satisfying at their core. If Push Square's verdict holds up with the broader critical consensus, Saros could be one of the most important PS5 exclusives in Sony's lineup.
