Slay the Spire 2 has barely dropped into Early Access and it's already running a victory lap around the entire roguelike genre. According to Kotaku, Mega Crit co-founder Casey Yano has lifted the curtain on what's coming next, and spoiler alert: it's a lot.

Yano confirmed that the studio has already begun work on alternate versions of Acts 2 and 3, which should spice up the mid-to-late game variety that every veteran spire-climber has been begging for. On top of that, a brand new character is reportedly in development - because apparently three wasn't enough to make us feel completely incompetent at deck-building.

Before you start mashing the refresh button on your Steam wishlist, pump the brakes. Mega Crit is being very clear that none of this content is dropping anytime soon. This is Early Access, not a content buffet. The devs are pacing themselves, and honestly, after the first game's legendary development arc, we trust the process.

Now, about those eggs...

In what is arguably the most important piece of gaming journalism this year, Yano also dropped a bombshell statistic via Kotaku: 49% of players have been eating the bird eggs in the game. You know the ones. The bird egg. The thing that is clearly, obviously, a bird egg that belongs to a bird.

Nearly half the playerbase looked at that egg and said "yes, this goes in my mouth now." This is a war crime dressed up as a roguelike decision. The other 51% of you are holding this community together with sheer moral fiber, and you deserve recognition.

Slay the Spire 2 is currently available in Early Access on Steam, and based on its dominance in the charts, it's safe to say this climb is far from over. New acts and a fresh character are on the horizon - but for now, maybe think twice before eating anything with feathers on it.
