Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by ex-CD Projekt Red veterans, has revealed that its upcoming vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker will take players between 55 and 70 hours to complete - a substantial runtime that might surprise fans given the game's signature time-limit mechanic, according to Push Square.
The Blood of Dawnwalker has been building hype as one of the more intriguing RPGs on the horizon, partly because of how it handles player agency through a ticking-clock structure. The idea is that in-game time passes as you make choices, pushing you to prioritize quests and decisions rather than just hoovering up every side objective on the map.

A time limit that doesn't rush you
That pressure mechanic had some players wondering whether the game would feel artificially short or punish completionists for exploring. The 55-70 hour estimate suggests that's not the case - Rebel Wolves appears to have designed the time system to create meaningful tension without gutting the overall scope of the experience.
It's a smart design challenge to pull off. Games like Majora's Mask proved that time pressure can deepen immersion and force genuinely interesting decisions, but they also risk making players feel stressed rather than engaged. At 55-70 hours, Dawnwalker is clearly aiming for full RPG territory, not a tightly trimmed linear experience.

A studio with pedigree
Rebel Wolves was co-founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3, so expectations are understandably high. The team has been rolling out footage consistently in the lead-up to release, giving fans a solid look at the game's dark medieval setting and its blend of vampire lore with open-world RPG mechanics.
The Blood of Dawnwalker now has a confirmed release date, positioning it as one of the more anticipated debut titles from a new studio in recent memory. For RPG fans burned out on games that either overstay their welcome or feel hollow despite long runtimes, the combination of a structured time mechanic and a meaty playtime could be the sweet spot Rebel Wolves is aiming for.
We'll find out soon enough whether the studio has managed to thread that needle.
