Like a walker that just won't go down no matter how many times you brain it, The Walking Dead franchise is back and this time it's throwing hands. Odaclick Game Studio and Trailmark Games have officially announced The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival, a 2D beat 'em up heading to both Switch and Switch 2, according to Nintendo Life.
Same devs, different apocalypse
If the name Odaclick rings a bell, that's because these are the same folks behind The Karate Kid: Street Rumble - and no, that one wasn't a disaster. Nintendo Life actually gave it a respectable 7/10 back in 2024, praising its visuals and combat, so there's at least some form here.
Think of this as a spiritual successor running in the same engine, just with more brain-munching and significantly fewer crane kicks. If Odaclick can carry over what worked in Street Rumble, Streets of Survival might just be the licensed beat 'em up revival we didn't know we needed.
Streets of survival or streets of mid?
Look, licensed games have a reputation lower than a zombie's IQ, but the beat 'em up genre has been having a genuine renaissance lately. Couple that with a developer who already has one decent licensed brawler under their belt, and this could actually be worth queuing up in your wishlist.
The dual Switch 1 and Switch 2 release is also a smart move, casting the widest possible net across Nintendo's playerbase. No one gets left behind in the apocalypse - except maybe Rick's hand, rest in peace.
No release date or pricing has been announced yet, so keep your eyes peeled. We'll be watching this one like a survivor watches the treeline - nervously, but with cautious optimism.
