Indie party game Warena is heading into the final stretch before its Q3 release, and the numbers coming out of the project suggest it's picking up real momentum in the run-up to launch.
The game has now passed 2,500 wishlists on Steam, a milestone that matters for any indie release. Wishlist counts are one of the clearest early signals Steam's algorithm uses to decide how much visibility to give a game at launch, and crossing the 2,000 mark is widely considered the point where a release starts getting meaningful organic exposure on the storefront.
A growing playtester base
Beyond raw wishlist numbers, Warena has built up a closed playtesting program that now includes almost 1,000 participants. That's a substantial pool for an indie project, and it gives the developer something most small studios struggle to get: a steady stream of feedback from players who are actually sinking time into the game across different sessions, setups, and skill levels.
That kind of testing volume tends to surface the rougher edges before launch - balance issues, matchmaking quirks, input weirdness - rather than after, when reviews are already going up.
An active Discord community
The game's Discord server has also turned into a genuinely active hub rather than the ghost towns that often surround pre-launch indie projects. That kind of community energy ahead of release is a strong signal - these are exactly the players who'll be organizing matches and bringing friends in once the game is out.
Demo coming soon
A public demo is on the way, which should give players who haven't joined the playtest program a chance to try the game for themselves. Demos have become increasingly important on Steam, especially around Next Fest events, and they often produce a noticeable wishlist bump when they land.
Q3 launch on the horizon
Warena is currently scheduled for a Q3 launch. With wishlists climbing, a sizable testing community in place, and a demo around the corner, the project is in a stronger pre-release position than most indie titles ever reach.
More details on the demo release date and launch window are expected closer to Q3.
