Microsoft has revealed the first batch of Xbox Game Pass additions for May 2026, and it's a stacked lineup. According to Noisy Pixel, the wave includes some of the most anticipated titles of the year alongside a classic RPG finally making its way to the service.

What's coming to Game Pass

Kicking things off on May 5, Final Fantasy V arrives on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. It's a long-overdue addition for JRPG fans who've been waiting to revisit one of the franchise's most beloved entries.

Forza Horizon 6 also joins the service and notably supports Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC - the Handheld tier inclusion is worth flagging for anyone gaming on the go. Racing fans have had this one circled on their calendars for a while, and day-one access on Game Pass is a big deal.

DOOM The Dark Ages and Wuchang are also part of this first wave, rounding out a lineup that covers action, RPG, and racing in one shot. DOOM The Dark Ages in particular has been generating serious hype as id Software's next evolution of the franchise, and landing it in Game Pass on day one continues Microsoft's pattern of putting its biggest releases straight into the subscription.

What's leaving the service

As always, new additions come with departures. Noisy Pixel's report also lists titles that will be rotating out of Game Pass during this period, so it's worth checking your library if you've been sitting on anything you've been meaning to finish.

The bigger picture

This wave is a strong reminder of why Game Pass remains one of the best value propositions in gaming. Getting Forza Horizon 6 and DOOM The Dark Ages - two marquee releases - alongside a classic Final Fantasy title in a single wave is genuinely impressive. For subscribers, May is shaping up to be a month where the backlog grows faster than anyone can realistically manage.
