Bethesda's space RPG Starfield may be making its way to the Switch 2, according to a leak reported by Kotaku. A rating for the game appeared referencing Nintendo's new platform, suggesting a port is in the works - following a similar path to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which also made the jump to Switch 2.
The timing of this leak is notable given that Starfield's PS5 launch hasn't exactly set the world on fire. The game arrived on Sony's platform earlier this year after spending time as an Xbox and PC exclusive, but sales and reception have been underwhelming - making a Switch 2 port feel like part of a broader push to get the game in front of as many players as possible.

A wider platform strategy taking shape
Microsoft has been steadily loosening its grip on exclusive titles, sending previously Xbox-first games to PS5 and now apparently Switch 2. Starfield joining that wave makes sense given the circumstances - the game needs an audience, and Nintendo's new hardware has been generating serious momentum since launch.

Whether a Switch 2 version can deliver a meaningful experience is a fair question. Starfield is a dense, open-world RPG with a lot of assets and systems running simultaneously. Indiana Jones proved that demanding titles can find a home on the platform, but Bethesda's game is a considerably bigger technical undertaking.

What this means for Starfield's future
Bethesda hasn't officially confirmed anything yet, so treat this as a strong rumor rather than a done deal. But between the leaked rating and the broader context of Microsoft's multiplatform push, a Switch 2 version feels like a matter of when, not if.
For players who skipped Starfield during its initial Xbox and PC run - and there were plenty - a Switch 2 port could be an appealing entry point, especially if it comes bundled with the Shattered Space expansion. Kotaku notes that the PS5 version's struggles give Bethesda extra motivation to expand the game's reach wherever possible.
